From the mind into the body, this is where we feel grounded.
Ground App exists for one purpose: to help you regulate your nervous system through the most direct tool available to every human being. Your breath.
Most people spend their days locked in a state of chronic stress. Tight shoulders, shallow breathing, a mind that will not quiet down. This is your sympathetic nervous system running the show. Ground App gives you the knowledge, the guidance, and the structure to take back control, shifting from fight-or-flight into a state of calm, clarity, and presence whenever you need it.
"From the mind into the body, this is where we feel grounded."
Collin Chartier, FounderCollin Chartier is a certified breathwork instructor and endurance athlete who built Ground App from years of personal practice. His journey into breathwork started on the starting line of his first triathlon, where he discovered that the ability to control his breath was the single most powerful tool for managing stress, focus, and performance under pressure.
After coaching breathwork to athletes, executives, and people dealing with anxiety and burnout, Collin saw the same pattern everywhere. People wanted to breathe better, but they did not know which technique to use, when to use it, or how to build a consistent practice. Every app on the market offered generic timers and vague instructions. None of them understood the user.
Ground App was Collin's answer. Not a tech product looking for a wellness angle, but a practitioner's tool, designed by someone who has guided thousands of breaths and knows what actually works. Every technique in the app, every session structure, every program progression comes from real coaching experience.
Breathwork is one of the most evidence-based methods for regulating your autonomic nervous system. Unlike meditation, which works primarily through attention, breathwork acts directly on the vagus nerve through mechanical and chemical pathways. You can change your heart rate, cortisol levels, and blood pressure within minutes, simply by changing how you breathe.
Your autonomic nervous system has two branches. The sympathetic branch drives the "fight or flight" response: elevated heart rate, shallow breathing, heightened alertness. The parasympathetic branch is "rest and digest": calm, recovery, and restoration. Most people are stuck in sympathetic dominance because of constant stress, screen time, and overstimulation. Breathwork gives you a direct switch between these states.
Extended exhales stimulate the vagus nerve, triggering parasympathetic responses. Reduced heart rate, lower blood pressure, and a measurable sense of calm.
Breath holds and controlled breathing improve your body's tolerance to CO2. This reduces anxiety sensitivity and builds lasting stress resilience.
Techniques like Coherent Breathing at 5.5 breaths per minute maximize HRV. This is the gold standard biomarker for cardiovascular health and emotional regulation.
Regular breathwork practice has been shown to reduce cortisol levels by 20 to 30 percent. Less cortisol means better sleep, clearer thinking, and more energy.
